British Railways Illustrated is just that, the railways of Great Britain including Wales, Scotland and occasionally Ireland, grandly illustrated in all their facets. In
each issue, detailed historical accounts and photographic features of the top-most quality make for a perfect blend. The steam locomotive in all its many forms in Britain is
the main focus, either lurking in its roundhouse or out on the road, in urban settings or in the wild high country, on top expresses or ambling about local lines. Regular
'spots' show railways in wartime, early diesels from the 1960s (now themselves gone the way of steam), railways at night, railways in the 1930s, track, tunnels and
bridges. There are detailed station surveys and many other lively and original features, with specially commissioned maps and diagrams where appropriate.
