Reviews For Soap Opera Weekly Magazine

The Best Soap Mag. for the Buck

This has been my favorite soap magazine since the day it hit the stands. It has always been priced lower than the others, but has slowly been creeping up to them.
This magazine is for the die hard fans. The articles are always well written. They have in-depth interviews with the stars. They let you know what will happen on your show before it does happen. Also lets you know who is coming on to the show, and who is leaving.
They have wonderful pictures. Also a fashion page. Once in a while they list the entire cast of every soap.
They also have a section that lets you know where the stars are appearing, whether it be other television shows, theater, or fan club luncheons.
This magazine is a must for all soap opera fans!

A Weekly Dose of Suds

Being a soap opera junkie - I'm up to taping 4 a day, I like to stay informed of all the latest soap happenings. While there are a variety of soap magazines to help me do this, none do it better and more consistently than Soap Opera Weekly.

Consistency - Soaps are covered fairly, accurately and leave you with just enough information to be caught up but leave you breathless in anticipation to tune in tomorrow, no matter what you watch. It is not biased towards Days, GH, or any of the others that garner big numbers. It covers everyone.

Informative - Ever wonder what the stars are really like when the cameras stop rolling? Soap Opera Weekly has a team of talented reporters that allow us, the fans to get to know these people on a human level and always show us there is more to the stars than their pretty faces.

Stylish - The first pages I turn to are the Dressed for Success, or DFS page. I check out the latest trends of what to buy and of course what not to buy.

Value - Soap Opera Weekly is the least expensive magazine of its kind on the market, and I should know, I've seen them all. If you are a soap fan like me, you have to check this magazine out. That's all for now. Tune in tomorrow.

Love Spoilers?

This is THE best soap opera magazine on the market. It's large size allows them to cover a lot of information. The spoilers, previews, news, articles, letters, and other columns can't be beat.

Although you'll find high-quality positive reporting in Soap Opera Digest, Soap Opera Weekly offers some excellent articles on a consistent basis. The photos that go along with the spoiler articles are great. Each show is covered on a regular basis and stories are featured on all the shows in an even manner.

The only thing I dislike about Soap Opera Weekly is it's editorial style. I find the editorials to be more negative than they should be. I would rather read more about what the magazine is doing for the world of soap operas than about the complaining and "inside" fighting. I don't buy the magazine to learn about the arguments between the editors and the powers that be at the soaps.

Overall, this is the best soap magazine for your money. Subscribe already!

Great Magazine

I like this magazine because it comes out weekly and keeps you up-to-date when you miss the show. I work at night and a lot of times during the day I miss it and I really want to know what is going on in the show. They explain or write about each show and I like when they go into great detail when a show is really good and you want to know what is planned. They also keep you up-to-date on who is coming and going. They also have a part for when the stars are coming to town, having babies, getting divorced, getting married and what is going on in their real life.

Overall, I have always enjoyed reading this magazine and also Soap Opera Digest. I really started reading this one because Soap Opera Digest was once every other week and I really like the idea of being able to know what is going on the next week by getting this magazine weekly. They give you the VCR highlights so you don't miss a good show or something that you are going to want to see.

There articles on the soap stars are also very good. I enjoy reading about their lives. I would recommend any soap opera fan to read this magazine, I think they will enjoy it more than Soap Opera Digest.

Keeping Updated

I am totally obsessed with watching Days of Lives and Guiding Light, but I work full time so I don't always get to watch them. I try to tape them everyday but like everything else my VCR doesn't always tape them. I buy Soap Opera Weekly every week. My fiance owns a store and brings me one home every tuesday.

Soap Opera Weekly comes out once a week (thus the title), it has information about every Soap opera on television including the evening ones. The first section is The News...it gives highlights of some of the major story lines on certain soaps. Next is Gossip, real stories about the real people, not the characters. They are always interesting. My favorite section is Sneek Peeks. Information on next weeks stories. Some don't like this because they like to be surprised, but I love to look ahead. Also Soap opera Weekly gives recaps, incase you missed anything last week. Public Opinion is another good section, it gives us a chance to voice our Opinion on a story, a character, a show, what ever you have an opinion on.

My soaps are important to me, and look forward to Tuesdays so I can read my Soap Opera Weekly. I would definately recommend this magazine to anyone who watches soaps and wants to be kept up to date!!!!

The Real Scoop

Soap weekly is very informative and it cut through all the mumbo jumbo and get to what you really want to know. I love it because it sometimes reveal a few secrets and surprises you don't know about. They cover all the major soaps and they are very fair to all of them. If the scrip of the soap is lacking, believe me soap weekly will let you know about. What I love about it is they make no bones about it. To buy this magazine, if you are a soap junkie, will prove to be a good investment. And you will even find yourself reading it over and over again because they don't just talk about soaps, but the lives and lifestyles of the actors.

soak in suds once a week, and smile

I haven't watched a soap in over a year, because I'm never at home, but I still like to keep up with the stories and the hot gossip behind the scenes. And this tabloid gives me my fix. The storyline coverage is great, and detailed, and they do recaps as well as present storylines and give you a peek into next week's episodes as well. The storyline coverage is excellent, and fairly balanced in terms of the different shows, unlike some magazines where they are obcessed with Days of Our Lives or the current soap of the moment. As a viewer of some of the basement soaps in the past, I greatly appreciate this fairness.
The letters seem like retreads, and I too wonder if that is the best that they got, but I got a couple published a year ago. The weekly poll is fun, but if you are on the west coast, it is difficult to get your spin on the questions in on time through snail mail.
Recently, I learned that they were getting some grief from Days of Our Lives because they had some hard-hitting criticism along with praise for that show. They did not want to function as cheerleaders and I respect that integrity. It does show in their coverage, and it's Days loss.
I recommend this magazine to any soap fan, especially those who miss episodes and want to know which days to tape(or take off work or school-some events can't be missed), and is interested in reading about the actors behind the roles.

Very good magazine, few flaws

Soap Opera Weekly is the best daytime soap magazine on the market. It contains a solid balance of opinion and fact, and is well worth the read for any soap fan.

The magazine's strongest points? It contains a solid balance of fact and opinion. The news stories, previews, and interviews are almost always well written. Critiques and opinion columns are entertaining, as well. Weekly's large size (10" x 12") certainly helps; the magazine can feature more in-depth stories and larger pictures than can its chief competitor, the paperback-sized Soap Opera Digest.

Of course, Weekly is not perfect. Disappointingly, recaps are quite sketchy (if you really need to know what happened last week, Digest is the better choice). Letters to the editor are often poorly written, making one wonder why they were published in the first place. And since the paper quality is relatively low, photos sometimes appear blurred or faded.

Overall, though, Weekly stands out from the pack. Digest, Soaps In Depth, and Soap Opera Update simply do not offer a comparable package. If you're looking for a good all-around daytime drama magazine, Weekly is the one to get.

soap opera weekly

I have been buying Soap Opera Weekly as often as possible since it came out and love it. I used to read only Soap Opera Digest but have found the SOW to be concise and entertaining to boot. So if you want a good magazine with incredible stories and updates read Soap Opera Weekly.

When this first came out I bought one to see what it was like and found that I was addicted to the magazine. I kept going to all the stores in my neighborhood and could not find it then I asked my friend who worked at the local store to order it in for me. She did and I have been getting it ever since. I just wish that it came out more often than it does. I love it and would buy it more often if it was out. Thank you for a great magazine and please keep up the good work
